Android 4.1 Jelly Bean hits Motorola Xoom tablet

If you own a Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi tablet, the wait for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is over.

Motorola Mobility, now owned by Google, on Friday announced it has begun rolling out the latest version of the Android mobile operating system, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, to U.S. owners of Motorola Xoom. Only Xoom models with Wi-Fi are currently getting the update, however. There's no word as to when users in other countries and those with the 3G and 4G versions of the Xoom tablet will be getting a taste of Jelly Bean.

Apple iOS 6 beta version restricts number of apps per iPhone or iPad

Apple says that the new beta versions of its iOS 6 operating system restricts the number of mobile apps that you can have installed on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch-– a limitation that didn't exist on iOS 4 or iOS 5. It's still not clear if that will be just for the beta version or if this will be permanent in iOS 6.
But the limit is high enough that only the most app-crazy owners would be annoyed. Once your iOS 6–equipped iDevice has over 500 apps installed on it, you will begin to experience slow booting, auto-rebooting, and other issues.

A decade ago, a BlackBerry phone was a remarkable possession. This sleek device offered features the likes of which no other mobile device at the time could claim. Chief among them was the facility to send and receive emails on the go right from the mobile device, without needing to connect with the mail server through a PC. And unlike PDAs, which did provide email exchange over phone lines, one didn’t need to synchronise and “request” the server for new mails. A decade down the line, things are no longer as rosy. In fact, they are so far removed from rosy that BlackBerry, and RIM, are left floundering for ways to remain relevant. What has changed?
