Apple iOS 6 beta version restricts number of apps per iPhone or iPad

Apple says that the new beta versions of its iOS 6 operating system restricts the number of mobile apps that you can have installed on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch-– a limitation that didn't exist on iOS 4 or iOS 5. It's still not clear if that will be just for the beta version or if this will be permanent in iOS 6.
But the limit is high enough that only the most app-crazy owners would be annoyed. Once your iOS 6–equipped iDevice has over 500 apps installed on it, you will begin to experience slow booting, auto-rebooting, and other issues.

LinkedIn Confirms Hack And Leak Of “Some” User Passwords

linklockShortly after it was reported that nearly 6.5 million LinkedIn account passwords were leaked onto the net, LinkedIn leapt into action and mounted their own investigation.
Though most of the morning was spent claiming that they could not confirm a security breach, a new announcement on their blog reveals that at least some of those leaked passwords correspond to LinkedIn accounts.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions here though. The company has yet to offer their official word yet on just how many users were impacted, how the accounts were compromised, or whether or not the email addresses that correspond with those passwords were also leaked. LinkedIn’s Vicente Silveira was quick to note that the investigation is far from over though, and with any luck they’ll soon discover and disclose those details very soon.

Google Drive Review:Your new Cloud Office Suite

Google's entire business is based on offering the best cloud services around, so the fact that the company didn't offer a true cloud-based storage service up until now is downright odd. Certainly, you could store files in Google docs or Gmail, but without a proper desktop component to sync with them, neither was especially efficient. But with the introduction of Google Drive, the search giant has managed to give its users a place to keep their files and more, turning Drive into one of the top cloud-based storage solutions virtually overnight.
The concept of G-Mail Drive launched years ago has been modified for better to produce the so called Best cloud storage drive "Google Drive". Read on to see why we'll be using Google Drive for the foreseeable future.

Some Quick Specs for Google Drive

  • 5GB free online storage (plus 10GB of Gmail storage and 1GB of Picasa storage, also free)
  • Web access and a desktop app (PC and Mac) for drag and drop syncing
  • Android mobile app with an IOS version on the way
  • Upgrades available
    • 25GB Drive and Picasa storage and a Gmail bump to 25GB for $2.49/month
    • 100GB Drive and Picasa storage and a Gmail bump to 25GB for $4.99/month
    • Additional plans up to 16TB (yes, Terabytes.  Wow.)
So that’s not bad.  More free storage than Dropbox.  Less than Microsoft Skydrive.  WAYYYY less than Box was offering.  Still, 5GB for free is a decent offering for a cloud storage service.  The question is what Google Drive offers to differentiate itself from the competing options out there.

Why Use Google Drive?

HTC Evo 4G LTE Review: Can It Be Better Than The iPhone 4S And The Galaxy Nexus

The Evo 4G LTE is one of the best phones to land on Sprint shelves in a while, but that’s not to say it has no competition over at the Yellow carrier. The Galaxy Nexus has propped itself up as the Android phone to beat, while the iPhone 4S is available at the same price: $199.

So what will it take to pass up the iPhone and the GalNex for the latest iteration of the Evo line?

We’ve put together this head-to-head chart to answer just such a question.
As you can see, specs between the Evo and the GalNex are quite similar. The only noticeable differences come by way of UI and design language. If a pure Android experience is what you’re looking for, I would definitely recommend the Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Face Recognition on Facebook Mobile?

klik-1Face.com’s CEO has shrugged off rumors that it is being acquired by Facebook for up to $100 million when asked. But the addition of its facial recognition tech to Facebook’s mobile apps could make sure friend tagging continues as the social network’s user base shifts away from desktops.
In fact, about 45% of users of Face.com’s app KLIK end up sharing their photos on Facebook, which shows how popular mobile facial recognition could be.
For the record, Face.com people are keeping their cards close to their chest. Face.com’s CEO Gil Hirsch flatly tells: “We have nothing new to announce or share at this time.”
But even while Facebook has been pushing a lot of fancy new enhancements to its mobile offerings (its Camera mobile app being the most recent) there are still a surprising number of features that have yet to be covered by the company.
So, perhaps because nature abhors a vacuum, we’re now getting a full whack of reports of what the company might buy or launch to make up for that, including today’s Face.com news that Facebook is looking to buy mobile/PC browser company Opera and hiring ex-Apple hardware engineers to work on its own phone.
We may just, quite possibly, be in the middle of a Facebook news bubble and that half of what we are reading about Facebook and mobile may never come to pass — or could take ages to come to fruition: Buffy the Android slayer is reportedly still six to 12 months away going by the timing in the AllThingsD post from November. And this is not the first time we’ve heard that Face.com is in the Facebook acquisition line.
But, if you swallow that large grain of salt, there is a huge amount of sense in the social network looking at beefing up its mobile arsenal with companies like these, which offer features that Facebook currently does not, and therefore offer the promise of getting mobile users to spend more time on the social network — something that is a concern for the company.

FB Launches Facebook Camera – An Instagram-Style Photo Filtering, Sharing, Viewing iOS App

Facebook Camera AppFacebook is dead serious about mobile. Today it begins rolling out Facebook Camera for iOS to English-speaking countries, a standalone photos app where you can shoot, filter, and share single or sets of photos and scroll through a feed of photos uploaded to Facebook by your friends. Developed by Facebook’s photos team without the help of Instagram because the acquisition deal hasn’t closed yet, Facebook Camera is designed for quicker publishing than Facebook’s multi-featured primary mobile app.
Facebook Camera lets you rapidly pick one or more photos, apply filters, tag friends and locations, add a description, and post. While its 14 filters, batch uploads, and streamlined interface are a big step up from Facebook for iOS, the design isn’t as beautiful as Instagram and neither are the photos you’ll see in it. When asked if Facebook Camera would become a direct competitor to the photosharing network it bought last month, a spokesman told  “As Mark asserted, we’re committed to building and growing Instagram independently, so I anticipate some healthy competition.”
