How to Create Your Own Customized Run Commands

Run commandThe Run command on Microsoft Windows operating system allows you to directly open an application or document with just a single command instead of navigating to it’s location and double-clicking the executable icon. However, it only works for some of the inbuilt Windows programs such as Command prompt (cmd), Calculator (calc) etc. So, have you ever wondered how to create your own customized Run commands for accessing your favorite programs, files and folders? Well, read on to find out the answer.

How to enable REGEDIT disabled by Administrator error ?

Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator? Here's a way to solve this problem.First lets take a look at the problem.
Trouble:
Whenever I open Run and type regedit and press enter a message prompt appears saying Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator“.

For user using Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Server 2003 or 2008 with Local Group Policy Editor and has access to an administrative user account, user can change the registry editor options in the Local Group Policy Editor.
Method 1:
  1. Click on Start -> Run (or Start Search in Windows Vista).
  2. Enter GPEdit.msc and then press Enter.
  3. Navigate to the following location: User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System
  4. In the Settings pane, locate the Prevent access to registry editing tools option, and then double-click on it to open the settings dialog.
  5. Select Disabled or Not Configured.
  6. Click on OK button.
  7. Try to run RegEdit.exe, and if required (still blocking yet), restart the computer.

Method 2:

For enabling you can also use the remove restrictions tool(RRT) by Sergiwa.com, if the method 1 doesn’t work for you.
1. First Download Remove Restrictions Tool
2. Run and check the registry tools and click apply.

Method 3:
You can use a simple UnHookExec.inf to enable registry editing.
1. Download UnHookExec.inf
2. Right click on the downloaded file and select install.
Method 4:

If the above three methods does not work for you , you can also try executing a small vbscript which I found on major geeks.
1. First Download EnableRegEdit.vbs
2. Double click on the downloaded file to enable registry editing.
I hope at least one of the above will help to fix the trouble.
